Taking our first sample!!!

Today we extracted our first samples of the yogurt products! We intended to take 100 μL of each of the plain yogurt brands, strawberry flavored brands, and kefir brands. The plain yogurt and flavored yogurt were hard to extract because they were so thick. Tomorrow we are going to try a different pipette tip to get more yogurt. 


However, we were able to extract 100 μL of four different brands of kefir. The four different kefir brands were place in the petri dish and spread out using the sterile L-shaped spreader. The dishes were placed in the incubator at 37.0 degrees Celsius. We'll have results as to whether or not bacteria formed in the dish tomorrow!
